DFI GISBORNE | Day 1

What an amazing first day of digital learning awesome-ness! I went into today not knowing what to expect, but ended the day with new tools, strategies and understandings. Can't wait for next week!

What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?

Learning about the back-story of the project has increased my understanding of how the programme was developed and expanded. This will add to my kete for implementing change in Tairāwhiti!

What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
I have increased my understanding of Google Docs and have a few ideas for using docs in a more creative way. I had never though of using a doc as a means of creating an infographic!

What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
I have expanded my understanding of Google Groups and have some ideas of how to streamline workflow for my learners needing to check out forums. My next steps in this area will be to identify ways of helping sort Gmail inbox to allow just Forum items to arrive in the Forum inbox. Challenge accepted!

What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
My better understanding of Google Groups is going to enable me to increase workflow for my personal Gmail, especially when I come to terms with training my inbox to filter mail better!

  2. Kia Ora Herman - great to finally meet you in person. Great to hear that you have ideas of how to streamline workflow using the tools we explored. And you're right, I'd never guess that your infographic was made using google docs either! But it looks so effective.

  5. Kia ora Herman,
Thanks for being an active participant and more - even fixing the Hot Water! Love your infographic. Did you know you can embed docs and control the size as well? That way the quality is better.
