DFI GISBORNE | Day 9
Do the mahi, get the treats!
What an experience today was being able to experience (again) the idea of formalised testing. It's hard to imagine again how kids must feel in these 'high stakes' tests that at times seem so 'easy' from the outside perspective. "Why can't you kids just write for 45 min." ... "5 min left. Don't panic."
Like kids from my class (I hope...) the results of my Google Exam won't be the only thing I leave this space with. I leave with...
- A deeper understanding of the Manaiakalani kaupapa of "Learn, Create, Share" and the guiding principals/goals of the programme.
- Newly formed and strengthened connections with peers who are equally excited about the future of education. We are not alone!
- New skills for my kete. Even learnt some new skills by completing the Level 1 exam. Learning is everywhere.
- Confidence in my abilities as a learner, educator and facilitator. Bring on the rest of 2019 and our journey moving to 2020... and the great beyond.
- A renewed sense of passion and drive to get more people to these sessions! BEST 9 WEEKS with the COOLEST EDUCATORS!

Kia ora Herman,
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming on the DFI journey and being so patient with the Facilitator/participant status. You have done really well. Love the engagement and excitement.
Great to work with you in all areas.
Ngā mihi nui,
Maria
Thank you for your support and facilitation over the last 9 sessions Maria. It's been a great experience and journey. I feel like I have a much better understanding of the tools we use/teach to others, and have developed more as a facilitator through attending and participating.

Herman
Kia Ora Herman, It's been a pleasure working with you these past few months. You've got some great takeaways from our time on the DFI particularly the connections you've been able to strengthen with other educators, this will surely aid you as you go into other schools as a facilitator. Good as you say also to get a perspective of the learner having to take the exam, but congratulations on gaining your Level 1. Level 2 next?? Do the mahi, get the treats. You got this.
